Energy efficiency

The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is a mandatory scheme aimed at improving energy efficiency and cutting emissions in large public and private sector organisations.

The CRC Scheme covers UK companies, regardless of where headquartered, and applies to both public and private sector organisations. Participants include supermarkets, banks and local authorities.  Qualification for CRC is based on half hourly electricity supply received during the qualification period.

An organisation qualifies as a CRC participant if:

  • at any point during the qualification period the organisation has had at least one half hourly meter (HHM) settled on the half hourly market
  • the organisation’s annual electricity supply through all half hourly meters was at least 6,000MWh during the qualification period

Annual reporting

Annual reporting for the CRC Scheme now falls in line with the financial year compliance cycle – April to March.  Organisations taking part in the CRC Scheme will be required to maintain an evidence pack, and a source list of all emissions included within the scheme.

If you are a participant in the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and require information for your evidence pack, you may request in writing the following information from Gazprom Energy:

-  the amount of electricity or gas supplied to you in the footprint year

-  how much, if any, of that supply has been estimated and the period to which that estimate relates

Upon receiving your written request , Gazprom Energy must reply in writing within 6 weeks of the end of the year of the phase to which information relates. To request the above information please download and complete the CRC Request form available on this page and return it to crc_enquiries@gazprom-energy.com

For the reporting year to 31 March 2012, participants are required to submit their CRC Requests to Gazprom Energy by 31st March. Gazprom Energy wil then reply by 12th May 2012 and reports must be submitted by 31st July 2012.

Further information about the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme can be found on the Department of Energy & Climate Change or the Environment Agency website. You can also view and download an example Annual Gas Usage Report by using the link on the right of this page.
